Reference Library: Pen Fancier’s Magazine

Fountain pen collecting as we know it developed out of the pioneering efforts of Cliff and Judy Lawrence and their Pen Fancier’s Club. Their magazine and their books laid the groundwork for all subsequent publications on vintage pens, a debt not always properly acknowledged then and too often forgotten now. Working long before easy access to digitized information, the Lawrences pieced together company histories and model chronologies using only primary sources. If they got some details wrong, they got the fundamentals very much right; old copies of their Pen Fancier’s Magazine are still a valuable resource, full of original ads and catalog pages — many of which still are not readily available in digitized form.
